A resonance is one particular frequency. If you swing on a swing in the park, you are swinging at the resonant frequency, and it feels great! Imagine if you were swinging 5 times faster, the forces would feel much more uncomfortable. The resonant frequency is the frequency that something wants to swing/vibrate at.
